Volunteering
and Associations
When sustainability is what you do, sometimes that means a service agreement is involved but sometimes not. Many actors in the sustainability space are Not for Profit. Sustainability in industry is often most discussed at association or other convening fora where there is no direct commercial relationship. Our unpaid and volunteering activity, be it conversations, writing or other types of collaboration are extremely important. These relationships provide us and our counterparts with a great deal of insight and valuable debate. In many instances these are the first places we get to "live our thoughts" putting them to the test and sharing. Sometimes we can provide tangible and impactful service too. We would not be true to our purpose or as effective in our delivery without our voluntary activity.
